Outreach worker Lesley Shaw has finished her mammoth tour to Back Scotland's Bid to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014 at John o'Groats in the North of Scotland.
SInce the start of the year Lesley has travelled through all 32 Scottish local authorities, attending events from the opening of Gourock Swimming Pool to the Isle of Mull Rugby 7's, the Hebridean Celtic Festival in the Western Isles to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Fort William.

Along the way Lesley has carried a massive banner for sports stars, locals and celebrities to sign to show their support for the Glasgow's Bid, attracting hundreds of signatures, including those of the Proclaimers, Kenny Logan, Carole Smillie, Kenny Dalglish, John Beattie and Runrig.
Her work has been invaluable in spreading the message that the Commonwealth Games in 2014 would be a Games for Scotland. Lesley said: "I can't believe I have finished the tour! Since the launch I have been lucky enough to see each region of Scotland, promoting the Bid at sports centres and events up and down the country. Each and every event I have attended with the Bid has been special with the whole country bending over backwards to support us. Event organisers, local authorities, clubs and organisations couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive."

Totting up her total travels over the summer, Lesley has clocked up over 5,500 miles in the branded Bid Van, and taken part in a parachute jump courtesy of the Golden Lions, been towed out of muddy fields and completed a mini-tour of sports centres taking in Perth, Dundee, Angus, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, the Shetland Isles and the Orkney Islands.
She said yesterday: "The trip to John O’Groats brings the Outreach Programme to a close as we prepare for the announcement of 2014 Commonwealth Games Host City on November 9th.
"Having travelled 5527miles in 7 months to all 32 regions of Scotland from the most southerly region to the most northerly, from the east to the west, I am more determined than ever that we win when the decision is made. The country is ready and I’ve seen first had that we have the friendliest people in the world to welcome the Friendly Games to Scotland."
