Over 1,500 children jumped, clapped and boogied on down to the music this weekend (Sunday 7th October) at the Children's Classic Concert in Glasgow in a fantastic mix of music and sport.

Kitted out in tracksuits and trainers and ready to go for gold, everyone took part in team games while enjoying amazing tunes provided by the Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

Members of the orchestra came ready to take part in their fitness gear instead of their usual fancy gowns and dinner jackets.

'Play to Win!' was the theme of the concert, supporting Glasgow's Bid to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014.Famous sporting anthems were amongst the tunes played for the enthusiastic audience, including Chariots of Fire and Bolero, and was presented by Alasdair Malloy and conducted by Derek Clark.

Young music fan Jackie Taylor, 7, said she loved the booming notes of the orchestra. "It was really loud but brilliant! I didn't have a favourite tune but they were all really fun, and my sister and I were dancing in the hall. We pretended we were swimming in the hall as well."
Children's Classic Concerts will be touring the country over the next year, giving children a taste of classical music in fun and fantastic ways, including Halloween in Edinburgh and Dundee and Christmas concerts in Edinburgh.
