What's on in Glasgow

Decision Day is almost here.  The country will be holding her breath as Scotland discovers if we have won the biggest sporting prize of all – the 2014 Commonwealth Games.  So many people have backed Scotland's Bid to host the Commonwealth Games and we would like you to join us to share in the anticipation and excitement of Decision Day when Glasgow, Scotland and the whole Commonwealth will find out if we are first across the finish line. So what’s happening in Glasgow on November 9 and where can you share in the excitement?

OLD FRUITMARKET
A one-off, all-ticket event is taking place at the Old Fruitmarket from 11.30am to 1.30pm, forming part of a live, one hour programme that both the BBC and STV are screening to coincide with the bid announcement at lunchtime.  As well as being part of the live broadcast, guests can also look forward to a big name music act and well-known faces from the world of sport, television and the arts. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR TICKETS HAS NOW PASSED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO APPLY.

There are plenty of other events happening around Glasgow, so if you want to share the occasion with fellow sports mad enthusiasts in your area of the City check out the options out below.

TOLLCROSS
People in the East End are welcome to join the Glasgow 2104 razamatzta at Tollcross Leisure Centre from 11am for a day of family fun.

Big screens will be showing the live BBC programme from 12 noon, with plenty of light refreshments for everyone.  Grab some Glasgow 2014 Decision Day merchandise and make some noise at announcement moment, and take it home with you as a memento of the day.

Children can get into the sporty mood of the occasion with free keep-fit fun in the shape of an inflatable assault course and bouncy castle, and there will be a soft play area for little ones.  Older children can take part in a special Glasgow 2014 Activ8 session for a taster of resistance and cardiovascular workouts with trained coaches.

Everyone is welcome to ‘actively’ show their support for the bid and get their heart racing even before the tension of the bid announcement with a one-off Decision Day BodyJam session.

Or if singing is your favourite sport then grab the microphone and take part in our Glasgow 2014 X Factor final - will you be brave enough to sing for celebrity look-alikes Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue.

And for the first time Tollcross will turn the 40ft scoreboard into a giant television screen, showing the bid announcement live so swimmers can continue to make a splash for Glasgow 2014, highlighting just how much of a sporting city Glasgow is.

Then, after all the excitement of the bid, you are welcome to stay and marvel at the Scottish Swimming Masters, which is being held in the 50 metre pool that will, if Glasgow wins the Games, be a key Glasgow 2014 venue.

SCOTSTOUN
If you are in the West of the City, Scotstoun Leisure Centre is the place to be from 11am on Decision Day.

Big screens will also be showing the bid announcement live from 12 noon, with refreshments for everyone to ensure your throat doesn’t go dry at the crucial announcement moment.  And to make sure you have the necessary equipment to make some noise as Glasgow discovers if it has won the right to stage the Games the Glasgow 2014 team will be handing out Decision Day goodies, which we hope will become a great memento of a great day for Glasgow.

Children are welcome to join in several ‘Come and Try’ sessions, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy a game of table tennis or basketball with trained coaches – who knows you may discover a talent you never knew you had, and could even be stepping up to collect Gold for Scotland in Glasgow in 2014.

Water babies can show their support by splishing and splashing around in the swimming pool, where children can join in a free, Glasgow 2014 inflatable session.
