Assistive Technology

Glasgow 2014 aspires to make the XX Commonwealth Games experience as accessible and inclusive as possible. To help achieve this, various forms of assistive technology will be provided across many venues, including audio description commentary and hearing enhancement technology.

Spectators can take advantage of the audio description commentary with the aid of a hand-held audio receiver.

Spectators who are hard of hearing can use the same receivers to listen to the in-venue commentary on the live action. The receivers are compatible with hearing aids switched to the ‘T’ setting.

Free of charge receivers can either be pre-booked or collected on venue at the spectator Information Point. You should bring photographic ID and your event ticket to collect. Counter loop technology will also be available at the spectator Information Points.

The receivers can be used with either standard ear-phones or an induction neck loop or ear hook. Those who book a receiver are welcome to bring their own headset/neck-loop/inductive ear loop, otherwise a number will be available to loan at each venue.

The table below details the sessions where these services are available.
