Part of Aberdeen-based FirstGroup, ScotRail is Scotland’s national train operator, operating 95% of passenger rail services in Scotland. This is made up of 2,300 services a day plus the overnight Caledonian Sleeper services to and from London.

Our economic impact on Scotland is significant. We have 4,700 employees and this supports a total of £302.5 million pounds in wages across Scotland. Together with partners including First Bus, we’ve been planning for the Games for more than two years.

We’ll run the biggest train timetable that Scotland has ever seen during the Games in Glasgow, with extra carriages and more frequent services until late at night – after 1am on some routes – to help journeys run as smoothly as possible for spectators as well as regular customers.

We are expecting to deliver more than one million passenger journeys over the 11 days of the Games. Transport on ScotRail services within designated Glasgow city boundaries will be included in the price of the Games ticket for Glasgow 2014 spectators.

We’ve trained more than 3,000 of our staff to enhance the Games experience for everyone. We’ve integrated travel, and increased services on core routes to venues, to make sure spectators get to where they need to be, smoothly and on time. And, we’re going to give back to our customers and the community too, with hundreds of tickets to give away.

Glasgow 2014 is a once in a lifetime occasion. And, as Scotland’s national railway, we’re proud to be part of this exciting and historic event.
