The moment we found out
The moment we found out
I first heard about the Handover Ceremony when one of my
lectures came into my class and asked us all if we wanted to
take part in a once in a life time opportunity. As the Commonwealth
Games were coming to Glasgow, we had the chance to
perform as part of the mass cast in the Handover Ceremony in
Delhi!
Being involved is a chance for me to try something new and
challenging for me as it’s not my normal type of activity. I
will get the chance to represent my county and be seen by
millions as we perform as a mass cast. This means I will have
played a role in representing my country and showing how good we
can be as we get ready for the next Commonwealth Games
At Orientation we went through medical checks to ensure we get
the correct jags for going to Delhi. We had to fill out our
application with what you did for a living and why we wanted
to be part of the Handover. We also had to fill out your
measurements for the costumes that were being made. But the
main part, for me, will be performing the dance. That's
what will be seen by millions and that's what Bootcamp will be
mostly about; learning the movements and knowing them for the big
day.
I really want to take part in this and prove to myself
that I am cable of learning new things and that I am able
to do them to a high standard. This is a great opportunity to
test myself as I will be learning a routine with a large cast and
performing it to everyone watching. It will be a lot of pressure
but I am sure I will enjoy every second of the experience and what
they give me during it.
