Eileen Gallagher
Independent Director
Eileen in an Independent Director on the Glasgow 2014 Board, and
brings an extensive knowledge of broadcasting and media to the
mix.
Her wide scope of experience includes co-founding Shed
Productions in 1998, and producing successful programmes such as
Footballer's Wives, Waterloo Road and Hope Springs.
Eileen floated Shed Productions on the Aim market in March 2005
which enabled the company to expand and diversify including
acquisitions in the US. After ten years as MD of Shed Productions
and then Chief Executive of the Shed Media Group, Eileen handed
over the reins in January 2009 and returned to her creative roots
as CEO of the drama specialist Shed Productions working on projects
in the UK and the US and remains on the board of Shed Media helping
to guide group strategy.
Shed Media Group is now one of the most successful UK
independent producers with offices in London, Brighton and Glasgow
and a thriving US base producing major productions for US
networks.
In 2002/2003 Eileen picked up two industry awards for
outstanding achievements for her work with Shed and the independent
production sector as a whole.
In 2009 Eileen was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from
Glasgow Caledonian University and is now a Doctor of Letters.
Born in Glasgow and educated at Glasgow University (MA Hons
Politics), Eileen started as freelance journalist and joined
Scottish Television in 1980 rising to become Head of Broadcasting.
She then moved to Granada TV as Deputy Director of Broadcasting and
London Weekend TV as Managing Director.
