Francesca Osowska
Scottish Government
Francesca Osowska sits on the Glasgow 2014 Board, as a
representative of the Scottish Government. Francesca was appointed
as the Scottish Government's Director for Housing, Regeneration and
the Commonwealth Games on 5 January 2011.
Francesca was educated in Cumbria and at Cambridge University,
where she obtained an MA in Economics, followed by an MA in
European Economics from the College of Europe in Bruges.
Her first job was in the Civil Service as an economist in 1993,
where she took up a post in the employment department, based in
Sheffield.
Brief stints in London and Brussels, preceded a move to
Edinburgh in 1997, and a role as a Government Economist with the
then Scottish Office. In 1998 she transferred to the policy stream
of the education department where she held posts in both the
education and justice departments, lastly becoming Head of
Sport.
Between 2007 and 2009, Francesca was Principal Private Secretary
to the First Minister, the Right Honourable Alex Salmond MSP, and
then moved, in December 2009, to become Director of Culture,
Tourism and the Commonwealth Games.
Francesca regularly participates in competitive triathlons, and
is returning to the sport soon, following a period of injury.
