Louise Martin CBE
Commonwealth Games Scotland
Louise is Vice Chair of the Organising Committee,
and represents Commonwealth Games Scotland on the Glasgow 2014
Board, in her capacity as the Immediate Past Chair.
She has a long and ongoing association with the Games as an
athlete, team manager and administrator. Her leadership role
in bringing the Games to Glasgow during the Bid was
crucial.
Louise was elected as a board member to Commonwealth Games
Scotland (CGS) in 1995 and was CGS Chair from 1999 until November
2007, when her term came to an end in line with CGS
constitutional requirements. The first woman to hold this
post with CGS, she is also currently the Commonwealth Games
Federation Honorary Secretary, having been re-elected for a
third term in November 2007.
In 2003 Louise was awarded the CBE in the New Year’s Honours
List for services to the Commonwealth Games.
Louise has previously served two terms on the sportscotland
board and was appointed to the Scottish Institute of Sport board in
September 2007. Following the merger of the Scottish Institute of
Sport and sportscotland in February 2008, she was co-opted onto the
sportscotland board and appointed its Chair.
Louise is also the Chair of Scotland’s Sports Hall of Fame
Committee.
