Cluster Venue Manager

Location: Glasgow
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

Job Summary

This position will play a pivotal role in the operational planning and delivery of specific Games Venues. A key focus will be to take a lead role as the venue manager in the planning and preparation of the model venue exercise and to provide extensive venue operations input into the review of competition and non-competition venue concept plans. As the role evolves, the focus will shift to coordinating detailed venue operations plans for multiple venues and eventually lead a venue team in the preparation, readiness testing and operational delivery of a Games venue for the XXth Commonwealth Games.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Venues, the Cluster Venue Manager will be responsible for the following:

• Managing a cluster of multiple venues that will evolve to managing a specific venue

• Preparation and participation in integrated venue planning, including model venue planning, detailed venue planning and event planning

• Lead a team to plan and validate venue tasks and deliverables

• Liaise with sport and overlay on competition technical requirements, detailed design of the field of play, the competition schedule, programme area levels of service and para-sport integration where applicable

• Ensure your venue team’s full participation in agreed training, rehearsal and games readiness simulations

• Coordinate the contingency planning for your venue team in collaboration with Risk, Health & Safety, Command and Control, Security, Transport and Site Management

• Develop highly effective working relationships with Functional Area Managers, incumbent Venue Management and your venue teams

• Contribute to the development of the venue communication programme

• Monitor and report on progress against venue planning milestones

Person Specification

Key skills, experience and competencies required:

• Candidates must have a proven track record in delivering venues within an international sport Games or championships context

• Significant experience in the end-to-end delivery of large-scale projects requiring an integrated approach

• Sound knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures with an innate ability to make difficult decisions

• Leadership – provides vision, direction and support to employees and teams to enable organisational objectives to be achieved

• Building Relationships and Networking – builds effective working relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders in order to facilitate joint-working

• Communication – proactively shares information with others and does so clearly and concisely • Delivers Results – drives to achieve an outstanding, athlete-centred and sport-focused event of world-class competition

• Commitment, Motivation and Drive – committed to delivering Games which will be celebrated across the Commonwealth, generate enormous pride in Glasgow and Scotland, and leave a lasting legacy
