General Manager, Games Time Workforce Planning &
Operations

Job Summary
This position will play a pivotal leadership role within the
Games Time Delivery division and will be responsible for the
planning, coordination and management of the Games Time workforce
delivery model for the Commonwealth Games period in 2014, ensuring
the effective and efficient management of all venue based workforce
constituents and workforce operational issues. The role will
oversee the design, development and delivery of workforce planning
and will provide the key interface between venue operational
planning, volunteer and uniform planning and other functional areas
responsible for delivering services and products to, or impacting
workforce constituents throughout the duration of the Games.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Venues, the General Manager, Games Time
Workforce Planning & Operations will be responsible for the
following:
• Developing the strategic plan and detailed operations plans
for Games Time workforce operations
• Liaising closely with the Technology Division on the
development of the scope and implementation of the workforce
planning and scheduling system. This will also be undertaken in
conjunction with the Volunteering functional area
• Liaising with the Human Resources and Volunteering functions
to ensure effective and efficient workforce planning processes and
resource requirements across the Organising Committee for venue
operational activities
• Provision of advice and guidance to the Head of Venues
regarding workforce contractual welfare arrangements as a component
of the venue use agreements
• Contribute to the integrated venue planning process, including
model venue concept planning, detailed venue planning and event
planning
• Manage a small team covering Workforce Planning and Workforce
Operations
• Review and monitor the workforce planning and operations
budget and staff plan
• Develop, manage and report on functional milestones
Person Specification
Key skills, experience and competencies required:
• Candidates will ideally have previous experience within an
international sport Games or championships context, but more
importantly will have delivered complex large scale workforce
projects
• Significant experience in resource planning or event
management, with excellent attention to detail
• Sound knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation
procedures with an innate ability to make difficult decisions
• Highly developed facilitation and interpersonal skills
• Leadership – provides vision, direction and support to
employees and teams to enable organisational objectives to be
achieved
• Building Relationships and Networking – builds effective
working relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders in
order to facilitate joint-working
• Communication – proactively shares information with others and
does so clearly and concisely
• Delivers Results – drives to achieve an outstanding,
athlete-centred and sport-focused event of world-class
competition
