Head of Venues
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000
Job Summary
This position will play a pivotal leadership role within our
Games-Time Delivery function covering both Venue Operations and
Workforce Planning and Operations. Key responsibilities will
include the negotiation and execution of Games venue/site use
agreements, oversight of the integrated venue planning processes,
readiness testing and issues management, culminating in the
successful delivery and operation of competition and non
competition venues for the XXth Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Games Time Delivery, the Head of
Venues will be responsible for the following:
• Build and motivate a high performance team to deliver Venue
Management, Venue Operations and Workforce Planning with a strong
focus on milestones and outcomes
• Lead the negotiation and execution of detailed venue use
agreements and oversee contractual processes and compliance
• Develop and manage venue operational integration including
venue planning, model venue planning and detailed venue and event
planning
• Manage the Venues critical path in cooperation with Venue
Development and Overlay
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that
the operation and management of all Games venues is conducted in
accordance with their requirements
• Design and coordinate the readiness and contingency planning
for venue teams in conjunction with Risk, Health & Safety,
Command and Control, Security and Site Management
• Lead Venue Management involvement in Test Events
• Act as a Representative in the Main Operations Centre at Games
Time
Person Specification
Key skills, experience and competencies required:
• Candidates must have a proven track record in delivering
international sport Games or championships gained in a strategic
leadership role
• Significant experience in the end-to-end delivery of
large-scale projects requiring an integrated approach
• Sound knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation
procedures with an innate ability to make difficult decisions
• Leadership – provides vision, direction and support to
employees and teams to enable organisational objectives to be
achieved
• Building Relationships and Networking – builds effective
working relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders in
order to facilitate joint-working
• Communication – proactively shares information with others and
does so clearly and concisely

athlete-centred and sport-focused event of world-class
competition
