Salary:£60,000 - £80,000

Job Summary

This position will play a pivotal role in the operational planning and delivery of competition and non-competition venues for the XXth Commonwealth Games in 2014. The final phase in the evolution of the role will be focused on coordinating an extensive team of Venue Managers in the preparation, readiness testing and operational delivery of an event on behalf of the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Venues, the General Manager, Venue Operations will be responsible for the following:

• Develop and manage the Venues planning and operations integrated program including, model venue planning, venue by venue planning, test events and Games time planning.

• Integrate the planning processes across venue based functional areas for example venue operations, venue workforce planning, overlay and FF&E, venue technology, venue security, venue transport, testing and readiness and sport.

• Coordinate and manage the planning and validation of venue tasks and deliverables

• Capture and facilitate the resolution of venue specific issues

• Design, manage and monitor the development of key tools such as policies and procedures, project plans, emergency evacuation plans, venue structure implementation and daily run sheets

• Understand the physical features and layout of a venue and the special services or needs required by clients within that location

• Monitor and report against the Venue Department’s planning and delivery milestones

• Oversee the development of a venue communication program

• Develop and coordinate venue by venue specific training

• Monitor and review the budget for the venues department

Person Specification

Key skills, experience and competencies required:

• Candidates must have a proven track record in delivering international sport Games or championships gained in a leadership role

• Significant experience in the end-to-end delivery of large-scale projects requiring an integrated approach

• Sound knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures with an innate ability to make difficult decisions

• Leadership – provides vision, direction and support to employees and teams to enable organisational objectives to be achieved

• Building Relationships and Networking – builds effective working relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders in order to facilitate joint-working

• Communication – proactively shares information with others and does so clearly and concisely

• Delivers Results – drives to achieve an outstanding, athlete-centred and sport-focused event of world-class competition

• Commitment, Motivation and Drive – committed to delivering Games which will be celebrated across the Commonwealth, generate enormous pride in Glasgow and Scotland, and leave a lasting legacy
