Glasgow has a thorough transport system that makes getting
around the city and the surrounding area easy and straightforward.
The city is well connected by motorways, rail links and has two
airports, Glasgow International Airport and Prestwick International
Airport, both of which habve regular international departures.
On the whole, commuting times into Glasgow are short; sixty
percent of Scotland’s workforce live within an hour’s drive of
Glasgow.
Scotland’s central belt is well connected and Glasgow’s
extensive motorway network gives direct access to the rest of the
UK. The M8 Motorway runs through the heart of the city and connects
Glasgow with Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland.
Public Transport
Glasgow is the only city in Scotland to have an Underground
system. Glasgow’s Underground is compact and easy to get around.
Its circular track, with inner and outer lines, has 15 stops and
goes north and south of the River Clyde.
Buses regularly leave from Buchanan Bus Station, in the heart of
the city centre, for destinations throughout the UK.
The West Coast Main Line (WCML) offers direct access to London
and the south via Glasgow Central train station. Glasgow and
Edinburgh are also connected via high speed rail links and a
regular bus service.
Glasgow’s cycle routes are constantly being improved and
extended. They compromise more than 200km routes and cater for all
types of cyclists.
