Featured batonbearers

Athletics has been essential for Juliet. After her sister's death in 2008 from osteosarcoma, she concentrated on athletics, and the focus and commitment to train, even in the cold and rain, helped her deal with her grief and become a wonderful young adult. Developing her sprinting, she has since represented her club, her school and Team Glasgow.

Peter has been an ultra-marathon runner since he recovered from a serious cardiac arrest in 2010. He finished 14th in the Scottish Ultra Marathon Series 2012, and in two years has run a staggering 10 ultra-marathons, with his longest race clocking in at 69 miles in length. A Glasgowlife youth worker, Peter has run for the last 40 years and has subsequently raised thousands of pounds for charities in the process, all while volunteering for young people and the community.

The youngest potential batonbearer in the East Dunbartonshire district, Yaser is currently a member East Dunbartonshire Youth Council due to his passion for making young people’s voices heard within the authority. Enthusiastic and always on time, Yaser has recently become the group’s Communication Officer in light of his determination and drive.
