Tickets for the Olympic Football Tournament taking place at Glasgow’s Hampden Park are now available from today (Wednesday 23 May 2012). Full price tickets will start at just £20 with special ‘pay your age’ prices available for young people 16 and under and seniors aged 60 and over. Tickets can be purchased at www.tickets.london2012.com.
Hampden Park will play host to some of the world’s best men’s and women’s teams over five days of exciting competition.
Reigning Olympic women’s champions, the USA, will kick off proceedings when they play France on Wednesday 25 July. In the men’s competition, world champions Spain will take to the pitch on Thursday 26 July for their game with Japan. The matches in the city will culminate with the Women’s Quarter Final on Friday 3 August.
As part of the Olympic Games experience free return transport from Glasgow city centre to Hampden Park has been arranged along with a vibrant programme of free entertainment scheduled to take place throughout the Games period. Glasgow Ambassadors will also be on hand on match days to welcome and assist visitors and provide further information on the city’s destination offering.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport in association with the Olympic Delivery Authority will provide a special free shuttle bus service for Olympic football ticketholders. The Olympic shuttle service will operate on match days from Buchanan Bus Station to designated zones adjacent to Hampden Park.
Free train services have also been arranged for fans travelling to the matches from the city centre. Trains will leave Glasgow Central Station for Mount Florida every match day.
Parking facilities will also be available at Queens Park Recreation Ground which is a 10 minute walk from Hampden Stadium. Ticketholders can book a space when they purchase their match ticket.
A Last Mile programme of entertainment has been arranged to heighten the London 2012 experience for ticketholders. Entertainment will feature at city centre transport hubs, Central Station and Buchanan Street, and also on the streets and spaces around the stadium and in the city centre. The area will be buzzing with activity as performers from the worlds of dance, music and theatre take to the streets in celebration.
This festival vibe will continue with the 2012 Experience strand of the Merchant City Festival. Running from 25th – 29th July, the festival will give Olympic ticketholders the chance to join the rest of the city in enjoying family friendly entertainment before or after the matches at Hampden Park. The Merchant City Festival celebrates the creativity which is so apparent throughout Glasgow and, with a great selection of dance, music and theatre events, is set to add another element of fun for those attending Olympic Football fixtures in the city.

In 2014 Hampden Park will play host to some of the best althletes on the planet as athletics competiton takes place at the venue during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
