Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet, has declared his interest in competing at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Bolt, who won three gold medals at the London 2012 Olympics, has never competed at a Commonwealth Games after missing both Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010. However, speaking at the IAAF Centenary Gala in Barcelona the Jamaican star highlighted his intent on running in Glasgow in 2014.

“That’s the only title I don’t have, so I think it’s something I’d like to go for, even if I do just one event,” Bolt said.

David Grevemberg, Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014 said, "It's a fantastic vote of confidence to hear world-class athletes of the calibre of Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis and so many others starting to express their intention to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

"Increasingly, the scene is getting set for a feast of global sport and I know Glasgow and Scotland will create a wonderful stage for stars such as these to shine."
