What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Rachel Learmonth and I am from Edinburgh.
Are people in Edinburgh excited about Glasgow 2014?
Yes very much so! Especially because we have the newly refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool which will host the diving.
What Clyde-sider role have you been offered?
I have been offered a role in Accreditation.
Where will you be based?
I will be mainly based in Edinburgh and sometimes in Glasgow when required.
What are you most looking forward to about your role?
I am looking forward to being involved in such an exciting event to come to Scotland, and being part of something we will never forget. I am also looking forward to meeting new people, both fellow volunteers and people attending the games.
Why did you want to be a Clyde-sider in the first place?
I wanted to become a volunteer for the games, mainly because I love the Olympics and Commonwealth Games and each time they are held, I am glued to my TV. I also wanted to apply to be a volunteer after the success of the London 2012 Olympics which I believe have had a great impact on our country. It looked like such a great atmosphere to be involved in and really is, a once-in a life time opportunity!
Have you visited Glasgow before? If so what’s your favourite thing about the city?
Yes, I am in Glasgow all the time as I have family and friends there. I love the atmosphere of the city and feel it is an ideal location for the Commonwealth games to be held! My favourite thing about the city is the buzzing atmosphere and friendly people.
If you won a gold medal, what would your celebration song be?
If I won a gold medal, my celebration song would probably be something like Drake - Started From The Bottom.
