Glasgow 2014 makes key appointments as the Games-time Delivery Team expands

Glasgow 2014 has made three key appointments to the growing Games-time Delivery Team, including a former Commonwealth medallist and venue experts who have the experience of six Commonwealth and Olympic Games in total.

Kate Cullen and Suzanne McCormack join as Venue Overlay Managers, responsible for the development of existing venues so they are fit for purpose for the Games, such as Tollcross Aquatics Centre for Swimming, and Scotstoun Sports Campus for Squash and Table Tennis.  As well as being an Architect, Kate won bronze for Track Cycling in Melbourne 2006 for Scotland, and Suzanne brings a wealth of experience from London 2012 where she focused on the delivery of the venue overlay for the Olympic Velodrome.

Craig Lear will join Glasgow 2014 as Head of Catering, Cleaning and Waste, and will bring with him extensive experience in Games-time logistics.  Craig will lead the Catering, Cleaning & Waste Programme for Glasgow 2014, which will be the biggest logistical operation the city has ever seen for the 11 days of competition.  It will also include providing in excess of 20,000 meals a day at the Athletes’ Village alone.

Craig brings an enormous wealth of experience of working with Commonwealth and Olympic Games Organising Committees in strategic planning, project management and delivery of CC&W services and was most recently employed as Director of Food & Beverage, Snow Management and Cleaning and Waste Operations by Vancouver 2010.

Glasgow 2014 Chief Executive John Scott said:

This will help to ensure a strong transfer of knowledge into the events industry in Scotland that will support the Games Partners' legacy ambitions that Glasgow and Scotland become recognised destinations for the global events industry.

“Kate, Suzanne and Craig will join our Games-time Delivery Team to start executing our very detailed plans on each venue, to ensure that we give athletes and spectators the very best experience possible.  I’m really looking forward to having them all on board as we approach Three Years to Go until our Opening Ceremony on 23rd July.”
