Volunteer in Focus – Deanna Lundie

Deana Lundie with Tom Daley

What’s your occupation?

Sports Coach

Where do you live?

Nairn in the Highlands

Are people in Nairn excited about Glasgow 2014?

Yeah, everyone’s excited about the Games. Many young leaders in my area have signed up to volunteer and loads of them got the chance to be part of Lead 2014.

Have you volunteered before?

I’ve volunteered lots in my local area. I gained a volunteer award for completing 500 hours and I still continue to volunteer!

What’s your best volunteering memory?

Lead 2014 and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What have you learnt from volunteering?

I’ve learnt just to have fun, be committed and enjoy the experience.

Are you planning to volunteer at Glasgow 2014?

Yes. I’ve applied.

If so, what are you most looking forward to?

The experience and the atmosphere at the Games!

Which sports star would you most like to see at the Games?

Sir Chris Hoy would be great to see. I never got the chance to see him at the London Olympics, so maybe I will get the chance this time.

What venue would you most like to be stationed at as a volunteer?

Hmmm maybe the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome or the Athletes’ Village.

What sporting competition are you most looking forward to at the Games?

I can’t wait to see the Athletics kick off! It always adds a great buzz to the atmosphere.

In one sentence, why should people volunteer at Glasgow 2014?

It will be an experience you will never forget!
