Ibrox Stadium, home of the famous Rangers Football Club, will host the Rugby Sevens competition. Built in 1899, the stadium has a long sporting history and has seen many stars grace the pitch. With seating for 50,000 sports fans, it provides a spectacular setting with superb sightlines and an intense, intimate atmosphere, which will heighten the drama of the Rugby Sevens competition.
- Rangers FC moved from Kinning Park to the first Ibrox Park in 1887. The present Ibrox Stadium was opened nearby in 1899.
- King George V visited Ibrox in 1917 to award honours, including knighthoods and war medals, at an open air public investiture. It was the first time this had happened in Scotland since 1603.
