Commonwealth Day was celebrated in
ear-splitting style today (Monday 12th March) at
Glasgow's Mount Florida Primary School with pupils putting on their
own vibrant version of the famous Haka in a special presentation to
Glasgow 2014's Games Partners about the Commonwealth.

A record one million Scots are set to show
their support for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games by sporting
their trainers on Monday (March 12). People of all ages, from all
parts of the country – and across the Commonwealth – are set to
step out and Step Up in their sneakers, sandshoes or gutties… and
you could be one of them!

Scotland’s five main political parties have joined forces at
Holyrood to support Glasgow 2014’s Sport Your Trainers campaign.
Kitted out in Glasgow 2014 trainers, senior representatives from
each party expressed their enthusiasm for the campaign and urged
the whole of Scotland to wear their trainers on Commonwealth
Day

Dillon the Armadillo backs Sport Your
Trainers!

Edinburgh Zoo's resident Armadillo has shown his support for
Glasgow 2014’s Sport Your Trainers campaign. Dillon, who is one of
two three-banded armadillos at Edinburgh Zoo, was joined by his
keeper who was sporting a pair of special Glasgow 2014 trainers to
mark the occasion.

HMS Defender support Sport Your Trainers
campaign
Staff from BAE Systems and members of crew from HMS Defender,
the fifth Type 45 Destroyer built by the company, are showing their
support for Glasgow 2014's Sport Your Trainers campaign. The ship,
which is based at the company’s Scotstoun yard on the banks of the
River Clyde, is affiliated to the City of Glasgow, a link that will
endure for the next 35 years.

SYT backs SYT!

Scottish Youth Theatre (SYT) has shown its support for Glasgow
2014's engagement campaign Sport Your Trainers
(SYT) on Commonwealth Day by calling for all participants to wear
their trainers on Commonwealth Day. The organisation has always
placed great importance on being active and healthy in the many
drama workshops and activities they run for the young people of
Glasgow and Scotland.
