The 9th November 2007 was a momentous day for the city of Glasgow and the country of Scotland.  On that day we won the race to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games – now the hard work begins.  The 2014 Games will showcase our great city and country on a scale never experienced before, with a potential TV audience of two billion people.  There will be new investment leading to transformation of the city including new sports facilities and an Athletes’ Village on the banks of the river Clyde, inspiring people not just from Glasgow and Scotland but from across the Commonwealth.  To achieve this we need a team of dedicated professionals who can deliver key aspects of the Games to the highest level.  The new Organising Committee (Glasgow 2014 Ltd) is now recruiting for our first group of senior posts following the appointment of a Chairman and Chief Executive.  Have you got what it takes to be part of our winning team?

Director of Operations   G474
As the Director of Operations you will have overall responsibility for the direct and indirect delivery of all services to athletes and officials leading up to and during the Games including venues, village, transport and technology.  This will be a central role in the delivery of the Games and will be at the heart of the G2014 organisation.  You will develop and deliver an integrated operational planning process and will be required to develop a cross functional culture within the Organising Committee.  A highly experienced professional, you will have held a senior position for at least five years in project management, major events operations or a related discipline.  You will have a proven track record in managing staff and significant budgets.  This is a challenging role and requires an individual who is able to engage teams and drive performance.  Ideally you will have experience of working on large scale sporting or cultural events and working across a range of public, private and voluntary organisations.

Director of Games Family Services   G475
As an integral part of the senior management team, you will have responsibility for ensuring that the requirements of the 71 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) are at the heart of planning for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Scotland.  Essentially your role will be to assist the Associations in their preparations for Glasgow and to enable their athletes to perform to the best of their abilities.  You will have experience of working in sport internationally, ideally at major sports events, and will have extensive knowledge and experience of working with CGAs or National Olympic Committees.  There will be a requirement to spend a significant amount of time liaising with Commonwealth Games Associations and attending major sports events.

Director of Communications   G476
As Director of Communications you will have responsibility for developing and implementing all aspects of the G2014 media programme, both in Scotland and internationally.  You will serve as the key media contact, overseeing all media enquiries and responses.  The role will also involve developing a proactive public relations campaign including web-site development.  You will have excellent communication skills and a proven track record in managing staff and significant budgets.  You will have held a senior position leading on communications, public relations and media.  Ideally you will have experience of working across a range of public, private and voluntary organisations.

Project Manager   G477
The project management role is designed to support all functions of the G2014 operation.  The post will co-ordinate the work of various functional areas and the day to day management of the Games Delivery Project Plan.  A key function of the post will be to monitor compliance against criteria set out by the Commonwealth Games Federation included in the Host City Contract and associated documents.  As a senior Project Manager you will have excellent organisational and communication skills and have extensive experience of managing demanding projects simultaneously.  Ideally you will also have experience of dealing with various business disciplines, with local and national government and with the voluntary sector.
